Jim Alpous is a Toronto based artist working predominantly in acrylic and watercolour who is drawn to the “realism” style. His art has been exhibited at Neilson Park Creative Centre (NPCC), Franklin Carmichael Art Group (FCAG), Summer & Grace Gallery, Assembly Hall and Etobicoke Civic Centre. Recently, Jim’s piece entitled, “Fiery Sunset” was selected for the prestigious Impact 2024 Exhibit at Neilson Park Creative Centre and awarded 3rd prize. It was also awarded ‘Best Acrylic’ at the 2024 Members Only Juried Art Show held by FCAG. Making art is a skill Jim honed by working with other artists as well as his own persistence. Through this journey, he discovered that creating art provides endless learning and fulfillment. His portfolio comprised primarily of an array of landscapes and wildlife, reveal his incredible attention to detail, colour, texture and form. Jim works alongside his wife, Gina in their shared home art studio, creating pieces depicting natural scenes he finds enjoyable in the hope others will appreciate them as well.

Exercising with my wife, gardening, looking after our youngest grandchildren.
What do you listen to when you work?
I listen to classical (96.3) as well as Greek music on the internet.
When did you start making art, and why?
My wife and I retired in 2016. We have always loved art and we decided to take art lessons as a hobby during retirement. We both discovered that we enjoyed painting and had the desire to keep learning and improving our skills.
